The chestnut-backed thrush is a ground thrush native to Lombok, Timor and the Lesser Sunda Islands in Indonesia. This species is rapidly declining and is already extinct on Lombok.



These thrushes are very secretive birds, preferring the dense undergrowth. However when the males sing they will choose a high perch in a tree to perform their flute-like song.
