Behind The Lens

Location

I arrived early for the Making Strides Walk in San Diego in October of 2015 at Balboa Park. This is the arboretum all lit up and reflecting off the duck and coy pond.

Time

This photo was taken at 4am.

Lighting

The amazing thing about the lighting is that it was all provided by the building itself. With my ISO at its highest setting, 6400, I was able to stand still, not even breathing, and get this photo free handed without using a stand.

Equipment

I used my Canon Rebel T3. I am still a beginner using a beginner camera.

Inspiration

The lighting. I was so awestruck at just how beautiful this photo was. And at 4am in the morning, I just felt that this picturesque scene was there just for me...... and I wanted to share.

Editing

Actually I did not. I did not need to enhance or manipulate the intensity of the color or the contrast to make this photo more brilliant. I did however take multiple shots to get it just right.

In my camera bag

Camera, Wide angle lens. Zoom lens. Tripod. UV Filter. Micro fiber lens wipes.

Feedback

Use a tripod. I did not have my tripod on this night and had to take multiple shots due to my own swaying and breathing. There was also a light breeze blowing that was causing some details to appear out of focus. When trying to capture such brilliant is such soft lighting, camera movement is your enemy.
