The photo was taken along Stephen avenue in Calgary, Canada. I got into photography in order for me to express my creativity which pushes me to the limits of my imagination.Time
I was headed home from work and walking along the city centre of Calgary. The date was January 23, 2016, at 10 pm and few people can be seen at that time. There are times that I just want to walk around and enjoy the ambient of the city. I always have appreciated the surroundings of any place and see the beauty hidden on it.Lighting
It was a great capture all because of the lighting. It shows the viewers the ambient look of the city with its relaxing mood. The lampposts illuminated the ground and the snow that made the scene more stunning.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 1200d with a 18-55 mm lens. No other equipment has been used.Inspiration
I was walking along the streets of Calgary, Canada. It was getting late that winter night and few people can be seen. Suddenly, it snowed and luckily I was with my camera and I started shooting. It was a very ambient night and people are running so that they find cover in the snow. Among other shots, I picked this shot because it was the best in its angle, composition, and lighting among others. It is probably one of my favorite shots that I have taken just because of the scene that it portrays.Editing
I used lightroom to post process the photo.I only did a minimal correction in it so that it won't change the ambient of the shot. I added some shadows along with blacks while I also added some of the highlights so that the details stays on it. I did color correct it by tweaking its luminance and some of the saturation. In my camera bag
I usually carry with me my Canon T5 rebel with an 18-55 mm lens and that is only for taking regular snapshots. It was my very first DLSR camera and it taught me a lot of ways and techniques in photography. I also have with me a Zoom Lens 55 - 250mm. There are times that I carry my tripod if I were to take long exposure shots or a time-lapse. I also have a GoPro for taking videos and taking complex action shots. I am planning to improve my equipment so that I can step up my game even more.Feedback
First, it is very important to be always ready especially in urban photography. For me, the best shots are taken spontaneously. I always shoot raw so that I can tweak more of the photos. Compositions are also important. Good compositions attract and portray the scene that you want to deliver to the audience. Creativity is the key to having very good compositions.
