The last time I vised my old country was in june 2015. I took my aging father and my nephew for a three day trip in Hercegovina region (country Bosnia). Photo was taken in Mostar (Bridge Town).Time
In June, Mostar has hot Mediterranean climate with a plenty of sunshine in the afternoon hours.Lighting
I was trying to capture the day of oppressive heat when everyone was looking for a shade under the structure. Direct sunlight hopefully helped me to present afternoon glow and contrasting shadows of the scene.Equipment
Shot was taken with a handheld Nikon D3200 24 mm (zoom lens) 1/250 speed at F8 with ISO100. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Old Bridge in Mostar is the symbol of the country, and surely the most photographed bridge in the region. As it happens so many times on Balkan, 16th century old bridge has seen too much of a history and yet it still stands as a testament to our better selves.Editing
I used Lightroom 5.7 in post processing. In my workflow I decrease highlights and increase shadows, and than correct white and black values with slides. After that I may tinker with tone curve. In my camera bag
Considering air-travel restrictions, I had very limited equipment in my bag for that trip. Camera, wide lens 16-35mm , and zoom 55-300mm.Feedback
Firstly, I am thankful and humbled by the award and support from my fellow ViewBug photographers. Just as any amateur photographer, I took numerous shots hoping for that right one. Since I had to wade above my knees into Neretva river for this shot, I styed there until cold water numbed my legs and forced me to get out. I hardly fell competent to dispense photography tips and advices to anyone, except perhaps one: sometimes you should ignore "lets go" shouts from your family members until you get your shot.
