Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken near an abandoned old mill house in Buckinghamshire. The truck had been left open to the elements for many years.Time
It was taken in the early afternoon with relatively flat natural sunlightLighting
I felt the whole front of the truck was evenly lit and no harsh shadows were present so it was easy to set the exposure and capture all the detail.Equipment
The Camera was a Panasonic Lumix G5 with a standard kit lens and was hand held.Inspiration
The sheer amount of coloured verdigris on the truck, the invasive vegetation and the single hanging headlamp made a perfect combinationEditing
Not much post processing was used as the picture was almost as seenIn my camera bag
A main camera plus most useful lens for the day, normally a Pentax K3 with 16-85mm lens. A second back up body (Pentax K5) and a second lens often my 100mm Macro. A small on camera flash and a lightweight tripod.Feedback
The best camera you have ever had is the one you have with you at the time! Even the most basic camera can capture stunning images if you are able to be in the right place at the right time (F8 and be there). No amount of fancy gear will ever make you a better photographer. Seize the moment, capture it forever and you will often be amazed at the results. This photograph was taken without any strategic planning or forethought and it has repeatedly done well in competitions. Get out there and get snapping.
