Location
This work was made in a olb Pub, called Olaria in Central de Congressos de Aveiro, Portugal, were I worked most part of the year in the weekends. This is already a old work my first one and greatest work for me.Time
I did this work during the night. The Pub was open most part of the day, but it was during the night that the bar had more people, and I wanted to shoot many people, many expressions that I could get. The relaxing moment of the night, after a day work, good Jazz Pub in the friday's, was amazing taking this photos.Lighting
No much, the light was the Pub light's, intimate, low, some dark spots, I need to wait most of the time that the client came to the balcony and make a order. One or other was lucky, because the light's during the night the lights were placed at specific points and was that kind of small lamps, focus light. I used most of the time 400 asa film.Equipment
I used my GrandFather Yashica FX-3 super 2000, 50 mm yashica lens. That the only equipment that I had in that time. No tripod or flash. And the 400ASA black&white film.Inspiration
Well, is this time I was studying Black & White Photography in the Fine Art School of Oporto. And this was a work made for this class. The theme was about voyerism and we need to find, to develop a project about it. At this time I worked in the Pub, and was very nice, and between the balcony and the coffee machine we had a bottle exhibitor, and behind this exhibitor I found the perfect place to take my photos. Behind bottles of Whisky, Vodka, Rum and others there I was, hidden, so people wouldn't see me taking pictures of them, looking and seeing in the eyes and expressions, feelings, conversations and hidden thoughts of the usual costumers.Editing
No any post-processing that I remember. Was impress in a dark room, FB paper. In my camera bag
I have yet my old Yashica FX-3 super 2000, 50 mm yashica lens. But nowadays I work a little more with video, experimental documentary portraits. I take several photos for, I guess the simple pleasure of taking photos. Sometimes pass in my mind some projects or some subjects but at the moment none consistence work.Feedback
I am not a professional photographer, I am not also a photographer artist but my advice to others is to look around, ear around, to be curious and explore all the environmet give to you. This was one excellent moment of my life, maybe a great one in my short walk as a artist, but this moment is yet a great moment for me.
