This was processed entirely with the excellent free open-source GIMP software. I did not do any raw processing , but blended 4 exposures using a luminosity masking plugin (which I will release if anyone wants it - I just need to tidy up and fix one small bug). Blending exposures allowed getting the cloud detail as well as the longer exposure water from a lighter shot (I didn't have an ND filter).

The storm which is brewing here was a bad one, taking out power to the town for a day, closing the only road in, an providing some impressive smashed trees in the forests the next day. Although I've kinda dramatised it in this shot as it was really building further up the valley behind me when this was taken.
