Location
The picture was shot in New Brighton on the Wirral, one of my favourite spots for sunsets.Time
I remember I was on my way home after visiting friends, like many photographers I nearly always have my camera with me, just in case. This was mid evening, perhaps 30 minutes before the sun went down,Lighting
No additional lighting from me on this one, which is fairly obvious, but in order to get the sun burst I'd stopped down to f20, this rendered the fore ground almost black so I had to take three shots, one exposed for the foreground, one properly exposed and one for the sky. I use Photoshop to stack them.Equipment
No tripod I'm afraid, hand held, on a Sony A6500 with the Sigma 16mm f1.4... Fabulous combination.Inspiration
I'm always inspired by great clouds, especially with the sun bursting through, and at the setting hour it magic.Editing
I did post-process using Lightroom, I like to get it looking as natural as possible, and then copy/past the changes onto the other shots, I may tweek the other shots to balance their exposure, and then stack the shots in Photoshop using blending modes. In my camera bag
Most of the time I have my Sony A7iii with the sony ZEISS 16/35 f4 pus the Sony 24/105 G OSS . These are the core of what I take out but also the Sony 85mm f1.8. And my trusty A6500 with a variety of lenses..Feedback
Yes, remember to take your tripod, at least have it in the boot of the car. Don't be afraid to test your shots, especiall if you intend to take a triple exposure. Get into fully manual as soon as possible, this will give you the most control over how you want the final shot to look, at least at the picture taking stage.
