Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo in Washington State, in my father's garage while visiting away from my home state of Alaska! I have been taking photos for years and only recently have begun 'light painting'.Time
Well for 'light painting' it must be done at night or in a very dark room. This one I took long after the sun went down to ensure complete darkness.Lighting
Dark, dark, dark! :)Equipment
This photo I captured with my Nikon D5200 with Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm lens, my tripod at the time came with the camera, I don't have it anymore as it was too unstable. I use a shutter release cable for stability of the photo. No flash at all for light painting photos unless your going to use a stencil.Inspiration
Light painting! I was doing a lot of experimenting and came up with this shot.Editing
No! I believe a light painter should not do any post-processing, this is what it's all about. "Long single exposure photography". #NoPhotoshop & #SOOC are favorite hashtags of true light painters. (i did put my signature on it of course in paint shop pro)In my camera bag

Yes! for this photo, I tied a green finger light to a string with a little weight and swung it around in a circular motion in complete darkness to capture this 16.5 second shot at ISO 100 f/5.6 at 18mm aimed the camera straight up. It took a few tries until I got this photo. I also use a shutter release cable to get stable shot.
