Behind The Lens

Location

Antelope canyon AZ

Time

The best time to take pictures is around noon. This is a slot canyon and you will want the sun to directly above the canyon to get the this effect.

Lighting

This is a slot canyon and you will want the sun to directly above the canyon to get the this effect. Part of what makes the light show up is the dust in the air.

Equipment

Due to the large amount of dust if you take a camera with moving parts make SURE to cover it in a protective cover. This was taken with a Sony DSC. I was on a tour so no tripod. Using a flash will ruin the effect. this camera does not have inter changeable lens. Great photos do not need expensive equipment.

Inspiration

Antelope canyon AZ is a beautiful and unique place. The amazing play of sunlight makes you feel like you are in another world.

Editing

No. I just hoped to capture some of the Canyon's beauty.

In my camera bag

I travel light. We are usually on a motorcycle trip or in a off road vehicle. So my phone and my Sony camera are all we have room for.

Feedback

There are slot canyons all over the New Mexico, Utah & Arizona area that you do not have to pay to visit. Timing is every thing. Reach the canyon around noon on a sunny day to get the desired lighting for your photo. Stay awhile to get different angles of sun light. try having someone toss a handful of sandy dirt in the ray of light (you might love the effect!) PROTECT your equipment from the dust!
