Location
I took this photo in Sagres Portugal. Its a beautiful area located in the south shore of Portugal.Time
Approximately 4pmLighting
I wanted this photo to relate how tall the cliffs were, so I tried my best to find a spot to shoot from where the shadows could provide me with enough contrast and detail to allow the cliffs in the photo to have as much depth as possible.Equipment
This was shot simply with a Canon 60D with a Canon 24-105mm f4 lens.Inspiration
When I travel, I make it a habit of getting at least on photo that represents the beauty and epicness of the location I'm visiting. Upon seeing how small the people looked vs how big those cliffs were, to me that scene represented perfectly how small Portugal is, but yet, it is a country of such big beauty and majestic views.Editing
I used Lightroom to balance the shadows, highlights and contrast, and I also adjusted the crop slightly to give it a better perspective. In my camera bag
My current travel set up is a Canon 6D for the camera, and for lenses I currently use Canon 24-105mm F4 , Canon 50mm F1.4 , Sigma Art 35mm F1.4 , Canon 70-200mm F2.8 ii.Feedback
Just get out there! Sometimes its just being in the right place at the right time. The more you're out there shooting, the more of a chance you'll have at being at the right location at the right time. Walk instead of driving, it allows you to slow down and notice things that you would never have noticed if you were driving. Don't follow the "photography rules", try different things, experiment, thats what art is all about.. finding your own voice, not someone else's..
