Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near to our new house in Oulu, Northern Finland, where our family had moved couple months earlier. The place wasn't planned beforehand at all. We were just at evening walk when I saw one of the most beautiful lights I have ever seen and luckily the camera was with me.

Time

This photo was taken at 8PM, but it was already August so the sunset was earlier than in summer. It lasted just about ten minutes, but luckily I managed to catch the last rays to this photo.

Lighting

The light was perfect, warm light from the setting sun. It didn't need anything more. That time I couldn't even use the manual settings properly, but the photo came out really acceptable for me. To be honest, even though nowadays I can use my camera better, this photo is still one of my favorites of all time.

Equipment

This photo was taken using Canon 550D and Canon 50mm f/1.8, my basic combination.

Inspiration

It was only a quick shot and the photo was taken, spontaneous moment. But maybe that's why I really like to take photos of things and moments that aren't planned. Then you can get the real tones to the photo.

Editing

I used a little bit Photoshop just to bright up colors to make it look what I saw in my mind while shooting the photo so that I could show the beauty of that moment to everyone.

In my camera bag

Well, I have still this Canon 550D, which has been really good for my needs. Then to the lens, I have Canon 50mm f/1.8 always with me because it is really useful in almost every situatuons. Same combo for many many years. But it's great for me and just now I can't think anything else I would need as much.

Feedback

I have missed too many moments because I didn't have the camera with me. So always remember to carry a camera with you everywhere you go because you never know what is coming. And, you really do not need all the newest equipment to get great shots. Don't let that to be a reason not to catch the beatiful moments of your life to remember later.
