Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken during a wonderful weekend on the lake shore with my husband and our friends. It was October, very beautiful time of the year, the nature impressed me a lot and I remember that I made a lot of photographs that day.

Time

It's the dawn, the very beginning of the warm and sunny mid-autumn day. We woke up very early on purpose to see the sunrise over the lake and it was really majestic!

Lighting

The lighting was natural, the sunrise through the dream-like mist over the water. The nearest objects were quite distinct, while the distant objects were blurred and because of the mist looked very unreal. As the mist lifted they seemed to come forward from anoher reality. The view fascinated me.

Equipment

I used film-camera, Zenit 122, as for the lens I'm not sure, I think it was Industar, but I might be wrong. No tripod, no flash.

Inspiration

The nature itself was very inspiring. The dawn was very beautifil and misterious at the same time. My husband stepped on the quay to see the sunrise. I just saw him, saw the boat and the lake and intuitively felt some symbolism about it and just clicked the shutter.

Editing

No, I very rarely use post-processing

In my camera bag

Just my camera. Sometimes additional lens.

Feedback

Nature is very changeable, especially such moments like sunrise or sunset. To capture something like this you have to react quickly and even intuitively. Ususally there's no time to think over all the technical details, you need to feel what you are going to photograph. To my mind any good photograph depends on two things - on the special moment and the artist' sense, ability to see and to feel this moment. I was just lucky to capture one of the magic moments of my life.
