Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this in the Skagit Valley just outside of Conway. The snow geese choose different fields every day, so it's a challenge to find large groups of them, but so much fun when I do!

Time

Probably early afternoon.

Lighting

I go there at all times of the day, so I usually just work with what lighting there happens to be. Sometimes I get to be surprised if something good happens.

Equipment

Nikon D750 or D600.

Inspiration

I just really love these birds. I go to the valley whenever I possibly can and drive around. Even if I can't find the geese, I always find something I want to photograph.

Editing

Not very much. I might have tweaked the contrast or balanced the highlights a little.

In my camera bag

I usually have the Nikon D600 and D750, but if I don't want to carry a lot of stuff, it's usually just the D750 with my 24-300 zoom lens.

Feedback

Shoot a LOT of frames. Keep trying until you get something you like.
