My lovely wild squirrel Cadbury ( = choc full of nuts). After many years I've tamed him enough for him to come in my house & sit on my lap; he lets me stroke him as if he's a cat while I feed him peanuts. Such a beautiful animal and such a privilege.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo through my kitchen window. Cadbury Squirrel was standing on the coal shed roof waiting for the nuts I always put out for him and the birds.

Time

It was taken at mid-day.

Lighting

Natural lighting.

Equipment

Canon EOS 1200D with a 70-300mm lens, hand-held and shot through single pane window.

Inspiration

I love nature photography. I live in a suburb of Huddersfield and am lucky enough to have several squirrels visiting my back garden. This one - Cadbury (because he was 'choc-full-of-nuts'....) - became very tame. He was great to photograph, and grew friendly enough to come into the house, eventually sitting on my lap to eat peanuts while I was lucky enough to be able to stroke him.

Editing

No post processing at all involved.

In my camera bag

I'm not a professional photographer and have no training whatsoever. I shoot using pure instincts. I always use a Canon EOS 1200D with either a 'normal' lens or a telephoto. Occasionally I set up a tripod in the kitchen for bird photographs.

Feedback

Patience, and plenty of it. And plenty of squirrel/bird food!
