Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the North of Thailand around the Chiang Mai area where the air pollution is much less than in the city allowing the moon to shine through.

Time

This photo was taken during dawn.

Lighting

I waited for the clouds to pass by slightly to get the moon to shine through while still keeping a mysterious tone by maintaining the different in the colors of the sky during dawn.

Equipment

I used a very steady tripod to allow the sharpness of the moon to appear through the clouds capturing the moment with an Olympus Sp 560 Uz which I had at the time.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the amazing view in front of me as well as the mysterious mood in the area. The silhouette of the tree along with the various colors of the sky matched the strange abandoned location I was in which I wanted to convey in the image.

Editing

This image under went minimal post-processing in which I only increased the contrast and brightness of the image, specifically focusing on the moon.

In my camera bag

I currently have a Canon 70D with a EF 70-200mm and EF-S 10-18mm lenses. I always have my polarized filter along with me and sometimes a tripod. My underwater photos are taken with an Olympus Sp-560 Uz with its underwater housing.

Feedback

Using a high zoom lens is very important to make the moon look much bigger and have a lot more detail. Make sure you have a tripod to make the edges as clear as possible and remove the noise. Its also best to have something in the foreground to make the image a little more intriguing.
