Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken at my in-home studio. I have always loved photography, but it's not until I had my own children that I realized just how important it is to capture their every moment.Time
This photo was taken right after my son's nap- noon time. I was preparing for a session and just playing around with my backdrops and lighting while trying to keep him out. Within seconds he reminded me of why I started photography in the first place- to capture memories of my own children so of course I put him on the floor with his favorite blankie and snapped this natural, unposed photo.Lighting
I like my images to look bright and natural. This particular image was captured using a softbox with continuous light.Equipment
I used: Nikon D750, 27-70mm 2.8, and 1 softbox with continuous light.Inspiration
My son is my inspiration and really this was just a spur of the moment thing while I was preparing for a photo session.Editing
Believe it or not this is a very natural image. I had lightened it just a touch and gave it an extra sharpen. In my camera bag
Oh gosh, I'm a minimalist so I try to keep it simple. I ALWAYS have my 70-200 2.8 Tamron because I do a lot of family and portrait shots and this lens just helps me achieve that crisp, sharp look. Then I have my Nikon 24-70mm, and Nikon 50mm 1.8. I also LOVE my Phottix Mitros flash that works great with my camera without any additional contraptions that other OFC require.Feedback
I would have to say that the first rule to photographing children is to be on their eye level. Try different angle, different lighting, and ALWAYS focus on the eye closest to the lens.
