Location
This was taken at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. I try to drive by daily, because there is always something that has changed there. Oklahoma sunsets and sunrises are some of the best in the world. I happen to be sitting at the lake watching the sunrise and these birds appeared in front of my shot. I couldn't resist the chance to grab a picture.Time
Due to my work schedule, I rarely have a chance to capture a sunrise. This was taken on one of my days of in late May about 8:15 in the morning.Lighting
Just a natural light from the sun reflecting off of the lake.Equipment
Right now I am shooting with a Nikon D3100.Inspiration
There are a wide variety of birds that migrate through Lake Hefner. Just being able to catch one in mid flight can be a time consuming adventure. This was just great timing with the sun coming up in the distance.Editing

I just have a Nikon D3100 with a DX 55-200 lens. I'm excited to be able to add more lenses and maybe even get another camera added to my collection. I had a Vivitar PS:20 I used for panoramis shots that was stolen. I would love to be able to find another camera along that line because I love to take landscape pictures.Feedback
Take your time and take numerous shots. If you are not taking stills, you will need more than one to catch that perfect moment that will capture everyone's attention when they are looking through your work. Various angles of the same view and different zooms will help you come up with what you are trying to represent in your shot. Don't get frustrated if you don't get it the first few times. There will always be something else that may grab your attention. Also, don't stick with just one type of shot, be varied in the different things you take pictures of. Enjoy and share your work!
