Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Lake O'hara in Yoho National Park, near the border of British Columbia and Alberta. Lake O'hara is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This place is like jewel to hikers and photographers. I could not stop snapping photos as soon as I was on the trail. I fell in love this place!!

Time

In the morning. It was mid September. I was so happy to be there.

Lighting

I love taking photos in early mornings and evening. I love evening's light especially in mountains because evening's light is soft and it brings more dramatic effect. I took this picture in the mid morning, I say around 9:00. I am happy with how the photo turned out.

Equipment

I used Canon PowerShot ELPH 200 HS and no tripod. I used the camera for hiking a lot. It is light weighed, so easy to use. Later, I started using a Nikon DSLR and now I am learning more and more.

Inspiration

The mountains. I love hiking and taking pictures. In fact, hiking got me interested in photography. I just wanted to let the world know beautiful things I saw in mountains! Now, I see more beautiful and sophisticated photos of real photographers to inspire me more so I can take my interest in photography to the next level. Photos I see in viewbug inspire me so much that it makes me want to go out take more photos.

Editing

Yes for this picture, I cropped the original photo to bring those boats to my focus. Then I boosted the red on the boats because I wanted to maximize the contrast in the blue and green of the sky, mountains and water. I adjusted lightening to about -5 shades darker to add strength in lines of mountains. In general, I do this sort of post processing to most of my photos but I would like to keep it minimum.

In my camera bag

When I go to mountains for hiking, I only take one camera in my back pack. I used to take the Canon CyberShot strapped on my backpack strap by my shoulder. Othertimes, I always bring a tripod, 15-50 mm and 70-200 mm lenses.

Feedback

I am still new to photography. I can use Viewbug to get advice and inspired from others. I would like to gain as much experience as possible.View bugs is a good learning tool for me.
