Location
This photo was taken in my dining room, near a glass sliding door, leading out to the deck.Time
To be perfectly honest, I dont know exactly what time of day it was that I shot the picture. All I can recall was that it was in the early afternoon, late in November.Lighting
Nothing special about lighting. I was indoors, using available light coming from outside, on a cloudy day.Equipment
I shot this photo with a Nikon J1, using an old pentax 85-210mm f/4.5 lens, with an m42 thread adapter. no additional equipment was used.Inspiration
I cant say that I could pinpoint a particular inspiration for the photo. I was just taking some photos of birds at the feeder, mounted on the deck, while it was snowing, and afterwards, i wanted to check out the closeup performance of the lens, as it was a relatively recent purchase.Editing
To the best of my knowledge, the only thing i may have done was to slightly bump the contrast. In my camera bag
I have my canon 70D, with Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 lens attached, my Nikon J1, with 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 attached, battery chargers for each, some $5 dslr rain covers, battery chargers, lens cloths, a wide angle aux lens with about a dozen step up/down rings, a handful of old M42 lenses, including a Yashica 50mm f/1.9, Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4, Helios 44-2 58mm f/2, a GoPro Hero HD 2 with grip handle, and a few miscellaneous items.Feedback
I like to think of looking for something to shoot the same way I prefer to explore when playing video games: that is to say, I look, but I'm not putting all my time and energy into looking for something specific, and I'm not looking with great intent for just anything. Instead, I try to look around for things that catch my eye; something with unique coloring, positioning, perhaps something stands out with other items nearby. I try not to spend too much time on any one thing in particular, but I do try to think of any creative angles or framing while I'm first observing the item. Of course, this way of looking can be slow, and have its limitations, but I would say that this is how I came to take the photo above
