Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the streets of Seville while I was walking down to enjoy the cold air at night. I remember this specifically, because I was standing on this railway and I heard the sound of the train so I got terrified so I took this picture instantly and stepped out of the way.

Time

This was around 9pm because I headed out to get dinner with my sister and as we were walking to this restaurant was when I took it.

Lighting

I wanted to keep the night time feel and bring out the yellow in the street and building. And I thought that the lamp posts made the lighting a lot more even.

Equipment

I used a canon 70D with an 18-135mm lens, no flash or tripod.

Inspiration

What inspired to take this photo was the symmetry that I saw as I walked down the street. And I really liked the way that the street curved at the end disappearing into darkness.

Editing

I did some post processing where I increased the shadows and contrast and added small amounts of saturation.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon 70D f/3.5 and an extra lens normally a 50mm lens for portraits. Also I carry a tripod, maps and a travel notebook.

Feedback

Some advice would be to always watch out for symmetry in natural spaces and merging lines. Also watch out for different kinds of shadows and lighting.
