Location
I took this photo at Scott's Run Nature Preserve located in Northern Virginia.Time
I took this picture on a cold winter day in January. I decided to go for a run and wanted to explore this new park. I had read there was a little waterfall in the area and I wanted to check it out. I really liked the pillars here in the water and thought it would be a great spot for me to take an action shot of me running. I had just recently received a GoPro for Christmas and wanted to test it out. I found a rock laying over in the water so I walked over to it and balanced my GoPro on the rock.Lighting
The lighting in this photo made it even more magical. I actually did not realize how perfect the lighting came out until after I took this photo. The sunlight glistening on the water just added to the beauty of the shot.Equipment
I used a GoPro Hero 4 silver along with a GoPro remote.Inspiration
My passion for running has helped spur me to see new places and discover how much I enjoy nature and photography. I love being able to capture moments that people tend to overlook. I enjoy showing people the beauty of the outdoors and reminding people of the positive of life. I hope to make a difference in the lives of others through my photography and I hope to inspire others along the way.Editing
The only post-processing I do is slightly tweaking my pictures on Instagram to make them pop. Instagram is an excellent app that has many photo editing features that can make pictures look professionally done! For this photo in particular I enhanced the lux, structure and saturation. In my camera bag
I am very simple and normally just use my phone, which is a Samsung galaxy S6 or my GoPro Hero 4. I also have many GoPro accessories for my camera to include different mounts, tripods, a selfie stick, chest strap and more.Feedback
Having patience is important and having an eye for capturing the right moment. Take advantage of your surroundings and try shooting for different angles like I did with balancing my camera on a rock. Look for angles that capture a different perspective. GoPro features a burst shot setting so I was able to capture this action shot. Also pay attention to where the sun is shining. Good lighting is also key to a good shot. Take advantage of the photo editing tools in Instagram. Editing the lux, structure and saturation of a photo can really make it pop. With the right equipment and patience, you can capture moments like these too!
