Location
This photo was shot in Italy in the medieval town of Castiglioni. This small town is protected by walls that reach over 60' high. This garage is built into the outside wall of the castello.Time
It was approximately 11am when I shot this photo. It was a spur of the moment shot. Not setup at all. I was in a hurry and had just put the 64' Fiat 500D in the garage. I realized that I left the garage key in my other car which was parked in from of the garage. As I walked back to lock the door and saw this image and was immediately struck by the contrast of colors. I quickly grabbed my Nikon D750 out of the car and snapped the shot.Lighting
The shot was taken in all natural lighting. I believe there was a slight overcast. The sun was positioned above and behind the garage. I was shooting in aperture priority mode which was set slightly underexposed.Equipment
The photos was taken with a Nikon D750. No flash or additional accessories were used. Just a kneecap on the ground to take the shot.Inspiration
Leading up to the shot, I was actually in quite a hurry and was nothing thinking of photography. When I returned to close the garage door I was struck by the contrast of colors with the natural lighting. I paused to take in the beautiful view then realized I needed to capture the moment.Editing
Not much at all. In hindsight, I wish I had done more to bring out the colors. I only cropped the photo and reduced the image size.In my camera bag
I very new to photography so I have very little gear. A Nikon D750 with AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm VR lens.Feedback
It's about being aware of your surroundings and capturing the moments as they present themselves. There have been many times where I wish I had my camera. Luckily this wasn't one of those times.
