Location
This image was taken in the foyer of the hotel property where the bride got ready for her big dayTime
It was taken around lunchtime before the ceremonyLighting
AS with all brides, they are beautiful on their big day I saw an opportunity and had a movie feel when for the shot when I saw the place in the foyer.Equipment
Canon 30d 70-200 @165 f2.8 no flash no tripodInspiration
When I walk into the property I saw the bench seat and kept in mind, when I saw the bride in all her glory it was to be used for sure. I had Alison lay down facing the big window in front of her, there was enough light with the bounce from the tiles on the floor. I had her pose in a simple traditional manner, I started to shot and with all these situations I always talk to the bride and direct them. This image was the second in the sequence the smile the pose was all-natural and soft as what I wanted to achieveEditing
The only thing I have done is the switch to black and white and some softening of her skinIn my camera bag
Since this image, I have switched to Sony A7's I only use two lenses 70-200 2.8 and 24-70 2.8 for weddings. I do carry a 50mm 1.4 and two flashes.Feedback
It is imperative that you know the location and observes when walking around, give yourself time. This advice is not so much about the image but about photography, the lenses are more important than the camera, buy the best that you can afford in the way of lenses.
