My wife and I live on a rural property in north/central British Columbia. This photo was taken along side one of our trails leading to a large creek running through the property.Time
I noticed the wild lilies were blooming the day before this photo was taken. It had rained most of the night before but the sun was shining bright when I got up in the morning. I thought it would be a good chance to find some fresh blooms and was rewarded with lots of opportunities. The light seemed right and the rain hadn't dried yet.Lighting
Living along the creek in a bit of a draw we don't get real early light in the morning but once it's up it can be quite intense. In this case, the foliage along the trail filtered the sunlight and fortunately the angle I was shooting at worked perfectly with the light filtering through the trees and fronds of the surrounding plants.Equipment
For as long as I've been interested in photography I've been a fan of Pentax. Currently I'm using a Pentax K-r body and for this photo I used a Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Macro 1:1 lens. Lighting supplied by mother nature :)Inspiration
I take pictures of what I see simply for the fact I can see it. I've experienced increasing vision loss for years due to complications from Diabetes. Due to these problems I've lost my job and unless I have a driver the majority of my photos are either taken here on the property or when we are fortunate enough to be travelling. I see well enough to wander around close to home and see what there is to see. I enjoy experimenting with the manual settings and play with manual focus but on the most part rely on auto focus and pre set settings.Editing
Short of cropping some extra foliage from this photo there was no post-processing used..In my camera bag
As stated previously I've been a Pentax fan for many years. That is likely due to the fact I've never had any experience with anything else but having said that have never had trouble with any equipment I've owned. I currently use a Pentax K-r body and the stock 18-55 lens. I also keep a Pentax 55-300 1:4-5.8 lens and a Pentax 35mm1:2.4 lens with me. I purchased a Tamron 90mm F2.8 Macro 1:1 lens a while back and am beginning to realize I wouldn't be caught without it. A good back pack from KATA to store everything and a couple bottles of water while I'm walking sums up my list of equipment.Feedback
Look around you, there is beauty everywhere, you just have to look for it sometimes. Of course there are times there is no question a photo should be taken but there are even more opportunities which become obvious if you take the time and simply see what you are looking at. Take your time, you'll be amazed at what you see.
