Behind The Lens

Location

From an outdoor patio at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN.

Time

about 4 PM

Lighting

I was very dark and stormy looking this particular afternoon, but there was a break in the clouds and suddenly there was direct sunlight coming from the Southwest shining brightly under the clouds and directly onto the bridge. It was much more dramatic in person than it is in this photo.

Equipment

iPhone 4S

Inspiration

Actually, I was at a Auto show and had walked down the hall to find a restroom. When I came out, I spotted this through a big glass window and went outside on the 2nd floor patio to catch the shot with the only camera I had with me which was my iPhone 4s.

Editing

Yes, I used online Pixlr to make it black and white and then I amped up the contrast just a little.

Feedback

Always take the shot. It's all about light and if you see a special light event happening, such as the dramatic side lighting of this bridge with the dark skies overhead, find someway to take the shot. In my case all I had was a very dated iPhone, but it did the trick.
