Location
The photo was taken at Mercer, which is on the river Waikato in New ZealandTime
Obviously it was taken at dawn, in the fall (autumn). This area gets a lot of fog this time of year. When the weather suddenly cools and the river is still warm, fog forms. I was up before the dawn, as I was anticipating a foggy start to the day and was not disappointed.Lighting
I found a place up the hill, above the fog and prepared, well before sunrise. This was a 3 shot bracketed exposure, merged in photoshop at F/9 with an ISO of 100.Equipment
It was shot using a Canon 700D on a tripod and a Tamron 70-200mm F/2.8 lens at 147mm.Inspiration
At that time of year, there are numerous shots to be had, is you wake up early enough. I got in my can and drove down the valley, as I was expecting to find some early morning mist/fog. When I saw how the mist was rolling over the little settlement with is Mercer, I got myself set up in a field.Editing
I bracketed the shots, one at 1.3s, one at 3.2s and one at 8s and merged them in photoshop, to give detail in the sky and the shadows. In my camera bag
I now have a Canon 6D, with a Sigma 12-24mm, a Tamron 24-70mm and the Tamron 70-200mm. I also have the Canon 100mm Macro lens.Feedback
