Location
My son and I took a drive up the the Joshua Tree National Park and stopped to shoot this image at a place called Real Hidden Valley day use area. This spot is easy to get to and collects the morning and afternoon lighting beautifully.Time
This was shot in the early morning.Lighting
Early morning in the desert can be magical especially when there are clouds in the sky. I try and take advantage of this as much as possible.Equipment
This image is was take with my Sony A7II and the Sony/Zeiss 16-35 f/4.Inspiration
For this image I was mostly inspired by the clouds. The desert daytime sky can be a bit bleak so when the clouds are out I try to make time to go out and shoot.Editing
I typically shoot bracketed images and create and HDR using Aurora HDR, import the HDR back to Lightroom and process from there using Topaz, Photoshop, Macphun or Nik.In my camera bag
Sony A7II, Sony RX100IV, SiSirui T-025X Carbon Fiber Tripod with C-10S Ball Head, 70-200, 24,70 and 16-35 Sony Zeiss lenses.Feedback
Be patient, enjoy nature first and shoot second.
