The landscape and volatile weather of Magnetic Island inspired me to commence with a study of painted light. Image 1 of 5. A very slow shutter speed allowed me to capture the passage of mist over the horizon to soften the silhouette of Araucaria trees. Sufficiently lengthening the exposure time allowed me to further soften the waves coming in on the night tide, to provide contrast with the sharpness of the silhouette, balancing the image and illustrating how nature is both hard and soft simultaneously. I hope to fool the eye into thinking this scene is not real, rather a painting. Nature is often not what it seems. I hope you enjoy this.
