Behind The Lens
Location
I captured this image off the coast in Barbados just outside Bathsheba. The surf has carved amazing boulders on the coastline but when I found this I knew I had to capture it.Time
If I recall correctly this was in the mid-afternoon, perhaps 3:00pm-ish? I hopped on a bus from Speightstown to check out the surf in Bathsheba and was exploring while killing time waiting for the waves.Lighting
All natural tropical lighting. I was very fortunate to have such wonderful weather that day as most days it had rained during my stay.Equipment
Since I was really just exploring and not intent on photographing much, my bag was really bare. In fact, I had loaded my old Canon 20D into a jeansport backpack along with my uv filters and extra batteries. That was it.Inspiration
The uniqueness of it. Barbados is truly a wonderful country and island, one that I cannot wait to return to. After spending such a good amount of the day exploring and looking at banana tree fields, breaking waves, carved rock, sugar mills, this was just such an out of the ordinary unique find.Editing
This particular photo no. Occasionally I will but never much. If I do it's only to sharpen a smidgen or to do some minor correcting on light. In my camera bag
Nowadays I pack up memory cards and extra batteries, I am now using a Nikon d3200. I really only like to carry a few lenses with one of my favorites being a fisheye. Uv filters, cables, I think overall that I'm pretty basic with what I pack and I'm okay with that.Feedback
Look for the interesting and unique. Nothing in this world is perfect so it really is a waste of time to only seek it out. It's the quirks and dents and dings that make everything really beautiful.
