Four wild Konik ponies have been imported from Poland to the RSPB Blacktoft Sands reserve. These ponies graze the Humber wetland reserve creating a habitat mosaic suitable for birds, invertebrates and small mammals. Konik ponies are a hardy, stocky, breed that are directly descended from the Tarpan, a wild horse driven to extinction in central Europe in the late 19th century (http:--www.rspb.org.uk-news-details.aspx?id=354574 - RSPB website).

Great we have the largest herd of wild Konick horses in Holland. I spend hours there and never tire of photographing them!

Beautiful portrait, David! Great timing as his one eye looks out from behind that beautiful mane. Lovely shallow DOF too. Well done!
