Behind The Lens

Location

Photo is taken at Mustasaari, Finland. Finland's longest bridge can be seen on the left side. Photo is taken from frozen sea, there was about half meter ice in this point.

Time

Evening time. Sun is setting at 3pm at winter time, so there is plenty of good time for night photography.

Lighting

Natural night lights.

Equipment

Canon 5d mk II, Samyang 14/2.8, tripod and 2 secends delayed shutter to get rid of any vibrations.

Inspiration

Winter night skies are always interesting to me. Cold weather, stars, frozen sea what else do you need..

Editing

Lightroom postprosessing from RAW file. Nothing added, nothing removed.

In my camera bag

Canon 5d mk III, Canon 7D, Canon EF 400/5.6, Canon EF 24-70/2.8, Canon EF 70-200/4, Samyang 14/2.8, Tamron 90/2.8 Macro

Feedback

Go out and explore. Start with one camera settings, test others. You will find the way to take spectacular night photos. I have done it hard way (trial and error), but it teaches better than any book or tutorial video.
