Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Garibaldi Lake, Garibaldi Provincial Park in British Columbia, after a three hours of hiking. It totally worth the effort.

Time

It was taken at 12:07 PM right after we had our lunch a power bars. The view was breath-taken and I have tried several exposures and angles in order to capture this jewel of nature.

Lighting

Despite the time of the day I tried to make the most of the natural light. I used my wide angle lens AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70 mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED in order to capture almost the whole glacier.

Equipment

I have a good old friend called Nikon D80. I brought only the lenses mentioned above because I had to be light on the trail. No tripod, just hand-held.

Inspiration

The hiking season was almost over, September 6th, 2015. I started this hikes to honour my wife's memory who passed away last spring. These are places she didn't have the chance to see alive...

Editing

I always use a basic editing in Picasa Photo Editor( crop and add a bit of contrast)

In my camera bag

Depending of the circumstances and purpose of my photo sessions, I have have most of the times my camera with the wide lens.

Feedback

The best scenery and viewpoints require a little bit of effort therefore higher elevation or longer the trail, better the view. Half of the photos' success is the place itself.
