Location
This was taken at Sea World San Diego in one of their aquarium exhibitsTime
I'm not certain the time of day, but it was in an enclosed area so there wasn't much natural lighting anyway.Lighting
No flash was used, I just used the ambient lighting around and in the tank.Equipment
This was shot with a canon rebel with a canon 100mm f/2.8l macro lensInspiration
One of my favorite things to do is spend time in the quiet, serene aquariums. I always find these large and small tanks so relaxing to look at and wanted to capture this in an image.Editing
No, most of my photos are straight from the camera and uploaded. It is extremely rare that I touch anything up unless it is to change a color image to a black and white or other monochromatic tone.In my camera bag
My macro lens, a zoom, and a ring flash. Of course I have the extra SD cards and batteries. I try to travel light. Last, I have my miniature "stuffies" as they are part of my new personal photo challenge/journey I've given myself.Feedback
I once read that a photographer takes hundred upon hundred of photographs of the same thing and only one is that "perfect shot". I took that to heart and I will spend days taking shots of the same thing until I get it right. Could I go into Lightroom and make it better? Sure, but I like the challenge of getting that shot straight out of camera. Practicing and playing with the camera and settings, that's how I do it. Manual mode is the ably way to really get to know the camera, lens, and what they can do together.
