Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shoot at bride's house. I'm wedding and portrait photographer and I'm really lucky to have an opportunity to shoot on various places for free :).

Time

The photo was taken around 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. The bride was getting ready and her nephew came in. He was so cute, trying to see what his aunt is looking like while putting her make-up on.

Lighting

I was shooting bride putting her make-up on. She was sitting near large window and I had beautiful and soft natural light source. In that moment, this kiddo came in, and I instantly turn the camera in his direction. He smiled and posed like real model.

Equipment

This was shot with Nikon D800 with Nikon 50mm 1.4. Camera was handheld. No flash was used.

Inspiration

As a wedding photographer I'm trying to catch a atmosphere and feeling of the day. Kids are always so inspiring and make important part of every wedding album. This kid was so cute and had a great grownup-ish attitude that was so inspiring.

Editing

No hard post-processing was used here. This was shot in RAW and processed in Lightroom. Just slight color correction, adding some contrast, sharpennig and vignetting.

In my camera bag

I'm always with my Nikon D800, Nikon D7100 bodies in my bag. 50mm 1.4 is must-have along with 70-200 2.8 and wide angle 10-24. Occasionaly use 35mm 2.0.

Feedback

When photographing kids (specially when you want to make single portraits) most important thing is to low-down to their eye-level. That way, they will feel you more friendly. From being adult stranger with some weird things in hand, suddenly, you became somebody equal to them and friendly.
