I was at a wildlife farm in SA where they gave frozen fish to the tigers to play with and as an appetite teaser. The tiger dropped the fish in the water and then "fished" it out again. Just as he emerged again I took this photo.Time
This was taken around 2pm. It was a hot summers day so the cold water made a good playground for the tiger to cool downLighting
The sun was not so high any more as it was afternoon already so it played along well taking this shot. No unwanted shadows and the contrast was perfect.Equipment
I used a canon 7D camera with sigma 150 - 500mm lens. Light was good so I take the shot hand held. There was no need for a tripod.Inspiration
I love wildlife and and animals in action, and together with the expression in this tiger's eyes made me more contempt to take the shotEditing
I usually use snapseed to edit my photos, I just give it a bit more drama and tweek the colour and maybe some cropping, but that is about it. I don't like too much editingIn my camera bag
I have my two canon 7D's, 600mm telephoto lens (I have upgraded on the 500mm), wide angle and 135mm lenses. Together with flash and filters should I need it for certain occationsFeedback
Follow your heart. Be patient and don't be afraid to take the shot. Remember you are the heart of your camera and the lens is just an extension of your eyes. If your gut feels right about the shot, then take it!
