I was camping near a lake and waked by a number of large gum trees every day where I heard a constant soft whimpering sound coming from up high. On Day 5 I decided to climb about 5 metres up one of the trees to a large whole in the trunk (created from a fallen tree limb) and found this little baby kookaburra. He was as stunned as I was, but he looked straight into my camera lens and continued to whimper!!
