The Kayaw tribe lady

This is a ‘long ears’ lady of the Kayaw tribe. They believe that the ears are the most sensitive part of the body and they make them longer to increase their beauty. The practice is known as "loaded ears", a tradition where ear lobes are stretched over time by large heavy rings.
I met this woman in the north of Thailand. Walking through the tribe village makes you feel like an explorer in another world where you can't understand what is normal and what is strange. These people deeply believe in their traditions and they are proud to show it to everyone.
It is a cultural mark and not a fashion sign.
