Location
This photo was taken in Arches National Park. It was the first time I had ever been and it was a trip I won't ever forget!Time
It was actually sunrise! My friend and I had camped out in Arches in the back of his truck. We just blew up an air mattress and laid under the stars and listened to the desert as we fell asleep. We woke a little before the sun came up and started to hike around a bit. We got to watch the sunrise with this arch and it was the most surreal moment of my life.Lighting
As the sun came up that morning and hit the desert and the rocks, it bathed everything in this rich red and orange color. The world was on fire and it was the most beautiful thing to witness.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3200, 18/55mm lens. No other equipmentInspiration
The stillness of the area, the light from the rising sun. I wanted to capture the surreal-ness of it all. Looking through the arch like looking through a frame...I wanted this memory frozen in time.Editing
For this photo I just enhanced the warmth in the red a bit. I don't edit my photos very much, I like the rawness of life to speak for itself. In my camera bag
My Nikon D3200, an extra memory card, battery charger, an 18-55mm lens, 55mm-200mm lens, and 55mm-300mm lens (my favorite).Feedback
Go hiking. Go before the sunrises and watch the sun slowly rise over the horizon. Connect with your surroundings...notice the color the early sun bathes everything in, the stillness of the world, the quiet and the peace of it. We are so busy hurrying in our lives all of the time, we forget to slow down and to really see. That's what my camera allows me to do..to slow down and really take everything in.
