A senior portrait, shot during golden hour. I love the way the light hit her skin and made it glow. That combined with her dark eyes and red lips just reminds me so much of snow white, even if her hair is technically too light.

Location
This was taken on our land next to our pond. I was using the pond as a backdrop for her senior photos and she was lying down and relaxing for a few moments. Standing next to her, I saw the opportunity for this photo and it was our favorite shot from the day.Time
This was late afternoon at the end of summer. Definitely a golden hour shot and the light was also slightly diffused by the weeping willow she was lying under.Lighting
It was not a planned photo at all - I took the opportunity presented when I saw how beautifully the light played across her face as she lay there.Equipment
Shot on a nikon d750 with a 85 1.4D lens. No other equipment used.Inspiration
It was a senior portrait session with my daughter. She needed the typical standard shot for her yearbook, but I wanted something a bit different for our walls. This was our photo of choice from the sessionEditing
I use Capture One for processing my raw files - any white balance or other basic corrections are done there. I also did a little refinement in photoshop and finished the processing in Alienskin because I love the slightly vintage feel it gives to the photo. In my camera bag
I am very much a minimalist when it comes to photography. I shoot nikon - a d750 and have just 2 lenses. A sigma 35 1.4Art and a nikon 85 1.4D. I also have one flash and a multi-use reflector/diffusor and that is all I have needed.Feedback
Be open to opportunities. Keep aware of what is going on around you and be prepared to quickly take advantage when you see that perfect shot. I sometimes plan out specific shots and they are beautiful, but almost all of my favorites were created by chance and my quick thinking.
