Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was actually taken at my home. At the time of this picture my wife and I had quite an extensive collection of reptiles. This young man was one of four Veiled Chameleons that we had.

Time

If I recall correctly this image was taken at around 2:00-3:00 pm.

Lighting

The lighting was quite simple with this shot. No light stands or flash was used. Certain reptiles require special lighting, Chameleons are one of those reptiles. The room it self had ambient light coming through a window and the spot lamp above the Chameleons cage is the accent light seen in this image.

Equipment

This particular image was captured with a Sony Dch-3 point and shoot camera. I hand held the camera not using a flash.

Inspiration

I have an affinity for all animals. I tend to spend a lot of time studying and photographing my personal animals as well as animals in their natural habitats.

Editing

Most of my images are in a natural state. I try and do little to no post processing when I can. This image was saved and posted as it came out of the camera.

In my camera bag

My bag consists of a Nikon D5000, 18-55mm, 50mm, and 55-200 lenses and low budget flash.

Feedback

I would have to say take your time, don't be in a rush and have patients. Learning your camera and gear is also very important. Get your camera off auto... If the shot doesn't turn out make an adjustment and shoot again. Make one change at a time and you'll eventually get that shot. Put your images out there and embrace any type of criticism that you receive.. It can truly help refine your abilities.
