Long Walk

Went for a drive about 175 miles north from were I live to Lake Superior. To see the apostle Islands. The news said that it had been cold enough that you could walk out one the ice. But to watch your step for the ice was slippery you may need pole and cleats to walk on it.. But I thought ya sure and just went with my winter boots for I had been on the ice many times before. .. This lake is different from most I have been on and the ice was very slippery and I did not make it to the spot I wanted to get to... So a few days later I went again with the right stuff to get to the spot I wanted to get to. It was durning the week and very few people around. I talked to a guy and he told me while I was already on the ice that they had closed the islands down because it had warmed up a little. Again I thought I have been on ice before ... But this was one of the great lakes and it had big blocks of Ice on the shore. I could hear the ice cracking, but ice always dose that. I kind of got the shot I wanted the second time I went but didn't stay as long as I wanted for fear that the ice would break up, It was about a 3 hour walk to the caves and back for me. May I will get a chance to go again next year. This year has been to warm.
