Location
This photograph was taken a very short walk away from my home in Gloucester, The river severn had burst its banks and flooded the boating lake.Time
This was approximately around 3:30 - 4 pm mid afternoon just before getting dark .Lighting
There was a very moody sky that day but with a stong winter sunlight it was getting dark quite quickly and I knew I didn't have long before I was either going to get attacked by the swans or the light was going to disappear.Equipment
I used my Panasonix Lumix G7 on a very short tripod with a 12-42 lens with wide angle adaptor.. No flash.Inspiration
I fell through a shower screen and hadn't been out of the house for a while after an operation to re-attach my tendons in my foot. This day I decided to take a slow walk over to the boating lake to see if the swans were about and if I could capture them.Editing
I used Lightroom to enhance the moodiness of the colour of the sky so that the reflection in the lake was captured the mood as well.In my camera bag
I have a mixture of Micro 4/3rd lenses but that ones i always carry that usually cater for any type of shot I may come across. 12-35 wide angle 42.5 portrait 1.2f 100-300 telephoto and a 60 mm macro lense.Feedback
Always push yourself , sometimes when distance or time is the problem try looking for something different or unusual closer to home. Places are very different throughout the seasons. Some of my favourite photographs have been taken at this location yet I usually walk past it 300 days of the year. This photo and the one with the swans coming towards me are particular favourites of mine.
