Location
This photo was taken in Lanaudiere, Quebec, Canada.Time
It was evening, the sun was beginning to disappear behind the incoming clouds.Lighting
What struck me most was how still the water was. It was a perfect mirror. I couldn't help but take advantage of such a perfect opportunity.Equipment
I'm not much of an equipment buff. I use Nikon cameras because I started with that brand back in the seventies and the lenses are still compatible. Since the days of my Nikon F Photomic FTN, I've enjoyed the D-70, the D-7100, and somewhat less the D-700. I find the D-7100 lightweight and versatile, but I'll use any darned camera to take pictures.Inspiration
I was surprised to see such an ominous sky over such perfectly still water, not a ripple, just a perfect mirror. I suppose this unusual situation was all the invitation I needed.Editing
Well first of all I shoot in RAW format. This allows me to adjust my image to my liking. I also use several plug-ins, On-One and Filter Forge are my favorites. In this image, I used OnOne to slightly darken the edges. In my camera bag
Tired of the days I lugged 3 cameras and umpteen lenses. I prefer to travel light. Only one camera (my D-7100) with an 18-140 mm lens. In a worst-case scenario, I can always pull out my iPhone.Feedback
There's not much advice I can offer. When nature hands you a banquet on a golden platter...what's there to question?
