A wild horse in the Nevada desert. Someone told me a good way to get close to wildlife, especially once they've seen you, is to "look for your wallet." If you're looking for your wallet, you walk back and forth, head down, moving slowly. It seemed to work with these horses. I got within about 30 yards or so before they decided to move along.
