Along the Appalachian Trail in the higher elevations of the Smoky Mountains, there exists (according to the NPS website) a coniferous rain forest. It is filled with spruce and Fraser fir trees. I had the pleasure of exploring this incredible area while it was covered in snow and ice one Christmas Eve.
