I took a trip to Yosemite hoping for fresh snow. It turned out the snow had already fallen a couple days prior to me arriving. I got up early in the morning and it was cloudy, and bit of light rain and a ground fog. When I saw this combined with the stream I was compelled to take the photo. I was hoping for better reflections in the water but the stream current was moving a bit too fast but the trees still looked colorful, and the fog around them made for a moody scene.Time
Morning, don’t remember the time.Lighting
Sometimes a rainy foggy day makes for a moody compelling photo!Equipment
I believe it was a canon 5D MK 3, with a 16-35 or a 24-70 zoom. I used a tripod but no flash.Inspiration
The beautiful scene before me. I’ve been back many times and I always get a great shot here and it’s always different.Editing
I shoot raw and use Adobe Lightroom and photoshop to edit.In my camera bag
It depends of what I’m shooting. I usually have my canon 24-70 f2.8L, 16-35 f2.8L, and 100-400 f4 mk II. I Cary various filters, a cpl, graduated ND 2 stops, fixed ND or 4, 8, and 10 stops, a carbon fiber tripod. I use Lee filter system.Feedback
The best thing you can do if forget auto modes and shoot manual. It forces you to learn and grow. If you have never been to Yosemite consider going in winter after a snow when it’s not crowded, you won’t regret it!
