Location
This photo was taken in the North Beach section of San Francisco.Time
This was early in the evening. I suspect the young woman smoking is getting ready for the night shift at the Hungry I, one of San Francisco's most famous strip clubs.Lighting
I rarely carry a tripod so this photo was hand held. I probably steadied my camera by holding it against a traffic pole or tree.Equipment
Nikon D750. No tripod, no flash.Inspiration
I love the energy in North Beach and I am always looking for images that tell a story. There is a lot going on in this photo...what is the girl thinking, the bouncer watching the guy exiting the club, a man walking to the ATM to get some cash to buy a dance?Editing
I increased the exposure a bit and added some detail and saturation in Color EFX pro.In my camera bag
I don't carry a bag. I am primarily a street photographer and a bag gets in my way.Feedback
You have to be fast!!!! If you see an image that compels you, take it. Don't stop to think, follow your first impression. Then if you have time and the image is still there you can adjust your point of view, exposure etc.
