Behind The Lens

Location

I made this photo at the zoo in my city, Goiânia. I visit this zoo quite often to study animal photography.

Time

It was mid to late afternoon. I consider this one of the best moments to photograph this place, since we have a good quality light without a major loss of light quantity

Lighting

There was a beautiful soft light falling trough the trees which allows you to capture every detail in the feathers of this beautiful bird.

Equipment

This image was made with a Canon Rebel T5i and a Canon 55 250mm STM.

Inspiration

I love to photograph wildlife, however we can not always have an abundance of wildlife in the middle of a big city. So the best we can do is look for these refuges of animals to have the opportunity to mingle and study these beautiful forms of life.

Editing

I normally do little processing my photos. This was no different, only made white balance fixes and other minor adjustments in Lighthoom.

In my camera bag

I usually walk with a backpack with my T5i the kit lens a 55-250mm STM and a 50mm 1.8. With this equipment I can do almost any photo that my vision show me.

Feedback

Shooting in the zoo can be quite difficult. All those fences are quite annoying, always messing up the composition. I suggest getting the most possible near the fence to place it within the zone outside of the lens focus. And, of course, a lot of patience to wait for the right moment.
