Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the remote town of Karumba in the Gulf Country region of Queensland, Australia

Time

This photo was taken at sunset as the sun dipped low over the horizon, the reflection shimmering across the ocean seemingly creating a pathway to ‘heaven’

Lighting

I wanted the subjects to be silhouetted against the dramatic backdrop of the deep orange setting sun

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D60

Inspiration

As I was photographing this amazing iconic sunset I just happened to catch an impromptu beautiful moment of love and joy between my niece and her son

Editing

Yes, but can’t quite remember as this was taken in 2013. Think I adjusted the contrast to enhance the vibrancy of the orange sunset in the background and darken the silhouettes in the foreground

In my camera bag

Usually have my Canon 6D Canon 6D Mark II, a couple of lenses, tripod & remote. I also make sure I have my phone handy as I’m not precious about what I’m using to catch a moment or memory

Feedback

Don’t be too fixated on a subject or an idea. Be open to the possibilities that what you were planning to capture can change in a moment, gifting you with an unexpected treasure.
